Care & Cleaning Instructions

Care & Cleaning Instructions for White Goose Down Products

You have purchased one of the finest comforters available in the world today. In order for it to provide you with a lifetime of comfort and sleeping pleasure, we suggest that you follow these simple care & cleaning instructions.

Care

Down comforters require little care. Fluff your comforter each morning and allow it to air. Comforters should be used with a removable duvet cover for protection and added beauty. The use of a cover is also required under the terms of your warranty.

The cover can be color coordinated to your bedroom and can serve as a bedspread, blanket, and, if you wish, as a top sheet. Most importantly, a duvet cover will preserve and protect your comforter so that frequent cleanings are unnecessary. In fact, if properly covered, down comforters should almost never require cleaning.  While down clusters have great resiliency, it is still best not to sit or lie on your comforter.

Cleaning

If cleaning is required, we recommend professional laundering. Comforters may be laundered or dry cleaned by a professional cleaner experienced in cleaning down, although we prefer the laundering method with water. Comforter shells are made of cotton and can shrink as much as 4 or 5 percent.  We caution against washing your comforter or pillow at home, as they are too large for home washers. Agitator washers may tear the fabric, causing damage to your washer, and permitting water to back up into your laundry room. Drying is also difficult, and any moisture remaining in the down can cause mildew damage. Commercial dryers can burn pillows and comforters easily by not permitting the hot air to escape.  Do not store your comforter in plastic after it has been washed.

For all of these above reasons, we assume no responsibility for any damage to property or equipment due to the washing of down comforters or pillows.
